VP-candidate Palin drives a VW diesel!
Will she win over the very important diesel driver voting block?

From the article:
“Palin, a former Wasilla mayor whose family still calls the city home, noted her shock at the skyrocketing cost of gas. A few years ago, she bought a diesel Volkswagen Jetta thinking it would be a great commuting car, she said.”
On one side I am glad to hear that someone political can do something as humane as buying a car with better MPG. Really, I can. I’d expect all politicians to drive Excursions and Hummers like most of our populace.
With that said I’m also a little ashamed–without getting into it–that this specific person is on a similar level as me, economically, and definitely not psychologically or environmentally.
One thing I had to explain to my wife over and over is buying a diesel to save on the fuel costs is only 50% of the advantage of going diesel. Factor in the less fuel used to CO2 emissions ratio and the prospect of biodiesel and wvo and you are not only saving your pocket, your making a microcosmic environmental save.
I was excited to hear that Sarah Palin drove a Jetta TDI — I heard somewhere that it was a 2003 Jetta wagon with automatic transmission. Too bad about the AT, but still a pretty nice ride.
She has a state-owned Suburban, so the Jetta probably doesn’t get driven as much these days.
No!
